CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel)

The Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) is a blood test that evaluates a range of metabolic parameters, including glucose levels, electrolyte and fluid balance, kidney and liver function, and protein levels. It provides a broad overview of metabolic and organ health, helping to identify and monitor conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, and liver disorders. Measures a variety of metabolic markers, including glucose, electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate), kidney function (creatinine, blood urea nitrogen), liver function (alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, total bilirubin, total protein, albumin), and calcium. This panel helps assess overall metabolic and organ health.

The CMP analyzes a wide range of conditions related to metabolic and organ health. It helps diagnose and monitor diseases such as diabetes (via glucose levels), kidney disease (via creatinine and blood urea nitrogen), and liver disorders (via liver enzymes and bilirubin). Additionally, it assesses electrolyte and fluid balance, which can be affected by various conditions, including dehydration and metabolic imbalances. By providing a comprehensive overview of metabolic function, the CMP aids in evaluating overall health and guiding treatment decisions.
